Pelvic Disorders Affect A Large Number of Women

A national study conducted by the researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center have discovered that almost 1/4 of all women suffer from pelvic floor disorders.  The study, which included 2,000 women in seven cities across the United States, found that 23.7% had suffered from at least one pelvic floor disorder.  They also found through the study that the risk for pelvic floor disorders increased with age. The study, which was led by Dr. Joseph Schaffer, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at UT Southwestern, was funded by the National Institutes of Health.
